We love you, Nana

By Caleb Wigley

When I found out about the news, I didn’t know how to feel,
I didn’t want to accept the fact that all of this was real,
To know that my grandmother will no longer walk this earth,
It hurts, because I can no longer hear wisdom from her words,
But where does that leave us?
Our family is hurting from which we cherished in our lives,
We wish for strength and guidance as tears fill our eyes,
Lost within the thoughts and memories that shake us to our core,
Of an oh so lovely woman that stands at Heaven’s door,
She is in a better place now, free from the pain of which she felt,
No longer troubled from the things that plagued her in her health,
Free from the constant agony in which she was dealt,
As she tried gasping for air, it would surely make you melt,
No one would want to live like that, to have everyone worry about you,
When you knew you were suffering, it grasped firmly all around you,
She is where the Angels sing and shout out with glee,
Be free, be free, let the whole world see,
That she is better now, no longer grief stricken from the binds that tore her down,
Rise up, rise up, everything will be better now,
You see, she always told me that family means everything and more,
That your past mistakes don’t define who you are, they help you soar,
To even greater heights, this world can be yours,
As long as you have the strength to stand up, and reach for what’s yours,
She may not be here in this physical world anymore,
But she will live in our hearts, now stand up and feel pain no more,
As long as we have each other, that is all that matters,
So let’s stand together and live on, because this family, is all that matters.
We love you Nana.
