We go through life looking and learning every day.
The thirst for knowledge drives us forward into the world
without trepidation of what’s ahead.
We challenge ourselves to do better and be better
than we were the day before.
We may then meet that special someone
who takes our eye from the world.
Before we know it, this person becomes our world,
we’re doing everything together.
Always our plans involve each other and it’s great
because we’re not alone
and we have someone to share everything with.
It’s beautiful and tragic at the same time.
The tragedy is eventually we must part ways
whether it be a breakup or death itself taking one of us.
Now you’re lost without them and what was once yours for the taking
now seems too big for any one person to tackle alone.
So now we gather what strength we have, stand up
and put one foot in front of the other and soldier on.
We’re lost but we soon find our path again,
cradling the love we lost with the heartache
that comes with it gaining strength from the knowledge
that we are strong enough for our next challenge
as long as we love.
