Having your cup of coffee reading your bible and taking the time to pray
Quietly doing your thing never bothering a soul
Standing by the door waving to everyone when they go
Working so hard all the time rarely sitting down to rest
You would have passed with flying colors if being a mother was a test
Raising five kids through the eighties was not easy I now can see
Especially since one of those five, stuck in the middle, was me
A cardinal is a symbol of a loved one from the past is what they say
But you are a cardinal I have right now I get to see almost every day
