“Chancellor pretend he pay me goode.
I pretend I work hard.”
- Checkpoint Charlie Border Guard- East Berlin Wall, 1989
Boss pretends he pays me fair wage.
I pretend I work hard
I get by, don’t get marred
Still my faked lie doesn’t assuage
Boss’s charade leaves me in rage
His sham throws me off guard
Boss pretends he pays me fair wage
I pretend I work hard
But times when my work’s not up stage
His words aren’t, “You’ll be fired!”
He’s cool, feigns disregard,
Ignores performance gage
Boss pretends he pays me fair wage
I pretend I work hard
